Crane Service

PROFESSIONAL PALM TREE INSTALLATION

Crane service is required for almost all of our orders because the trees are far too heavy for people to lift. However, there are some exceptions.
If you buy palm trees from Desert Empire Palms, each tree has a varying height that requires the assistance of machine installation. We have partnerships with local crane operators and work with other crane companies out of our local area.

Date Palm Trees

When purchasing a Date Palm Tree you will need to factor crane service for trees above 3’ tall. These are the shortest trees that require crane assistance. This is due to the massive root ball attached to the base of the trunk. Without a sufficient root ball the date palm will “shock” and its growth will be stunted.

California Fan Palm

For California Fan Palms crane service is required for all palm trees over 4’ tall. This palm tree is big like its date cousin, but requires a smaller root ball.

Mexican Fan Palm

Mexican Fan Palms are the tallest trees that we can move without using a crane. A crane is required for all trees over 7′ tall.

Planting a Palm Tree

HOW WE DO IT

Crane Planting

At Desert Empire Palms we specialize in very large trees. In order to plant them, a crane is required. We use a strap to suspend the trees from the crane. While still attached to the crane, we straighten the trees so that they are planted perfectly vertical and in line with each other.

Lots of Water

Trees are planted using a lot of water. This ensures that there are no air pockets by the roots and helps the tree make the transition with minimal shock. Collapsing the air pockets while still attached to the crain also helps retain the vertical appearance of the palm. If a company does not do this properly, the palm tree will lean and ultimately hurt the aesthetic appearance.
